Chloe Sevigny
She’s the Queen of New York Cool & if I could swap lives with anyone it would be her, definitely. Her style is heavily influenced by the 70’s and early 90’s and she has the biggest impact on my personal style. Her line for New York based store; Opening Ceremony is also great.Dazed and Confused
I first saw this movie when I was about 15 years old, made in 1993 its set around a Texas high school in 1976. There’s no major plot but the characters are great, they have a very cool vintage wardrobe, drive bad-ass cars and the movie has possibly one of the greatest soundtracks probably ever. Even though it wasn’t made in the 70’s its historically accurate to the finest detail & it’s the one movie that convinces me I was born in the wrong era.
King of Leon, the early years.
When Kings of Leon first emerged from Tennesee in 2003, before they adopted a more polished and (ahem) mainstream look, they literally looked like they had stepped out of the 1970’s. With their long locks, impressive facial hair & thrift store wardrobe they were the coolest rock band around with an impressive gene pool to boot. I’m still waiting for the day when they start wearing flares again. A little known fact is the name Dusty came from their song of the same name, and not from Dusty Springfield, which is the obvious assumption.
Cassandra from ‘Wayne’s World’
When I was a kid I literally wanted to be this woman. As the lead singer of Crucial Taunt, her early 90’s wardrobe was great, featuring a lot of lace, high waisted shorts, crop tops, body-con & massive hoop earrings. It’s a look I love to this day & sell in Dusty + Dylan right now.Biba 1964 – 1975
Biba was one of the most iconic fashion stores in fashion history & its one of the main reasons why I developed such a love for Vintage. Its creator Barbara Hulanicki is a fashion hero and I’m always adding her Biba designs to my personal vintage collection, of which I can’t bear to part with just yet!
Anita Pallenberg
Made famous for hanging out with the Rolling Stones back in the late 60’s, being Italian she has effortless style & wears a hat very well.
Jimi Hendrix
He was possibly one of the most stylish men ever. Along with his incredible musical talent, this man could dress. His use of suede, velvet, fringe, headscarves, jewellery & bold colours was amazing. He was the ultimate rock star of his time and if I had to go back in time and meet anyone it would be him.
